Walker Doll — 28” — Original Box & Factory Catalog — Made in Canada — RARE Step back in time with this stunning vintage doll produced by the Reliable Toy Company of Toronto, Canada — proudly marketed in her era as “Canada’s Finest.” This large 28” walker doll is a genuine piece of mid-century Canadian toy history, complete with her original storage box and an exceptionally rare surviving factory catalog insert titled *“Dolls — All Canadian Playtime Favourites, About Reliable Toy Company Founded in 1922 by Solomon Frank Samuels, Reliable Toy Co. became one of Canada’s most beloved doll manufacturers throughout the mid-20th century, producing composition, hard plastic, and vinyl dolls that were staples in Canadian households. Reliable dolls are increasingly sought after by collectors specializing in Canadiana, mid-century toys, and North American doll history. Original packaging and factory ephemera from this era rarely survive intact, making complete sets like this one genuinely uncommon finds. Doll Details • Height: 28 inches — a large, impressive display-size doll • Type: Hard plastic/vinyl walker doll (head turns as she “walks”) • Hair: Auburn/strawberry blonde synthetic curls • Eyes: Blue sleep eyes with lashes — open and close when tilted • Face: Molded eyebrows, painted lips, classic mid-century doll features • Outfit: Original red satin and cream polka-dot dress with matching bloomers, red ribbon bonnet ties, and a woven straw-style bonnet • Shoes: Original white lace-up baby shoes • Markings: Reliable / Made in Canada (trademark) What’s Included • The doll herself, fully dressed in her original outfit • Her original cardboard storage box, printed with the “Canada’s Finest — Reliable Made in Canada” logo and bow emblem • A rare original factory catalog insert showcasing Reliable’s 1950s doll lineup — a wonderful piece of vintage advertising ephemera on its own Condition — Please Read Carefully This is a genuine vintage item being sold as-is, consistent with its age of roughly 70+ years. Please review all photos closely, as they form part of the description: • The doll’s face shows typical age-related crazing/fine surface cracking common to hard plastic dolls of this era — this does not affect structural integrity but is visible on close inspection • Original outfit shows honest wear consistent with age: the red ribbon and bonnet ties show fraying, and the fabric has some general wear and light soiling • The white shoes show some staining • The storage box is well-worn with tears, soft corners, and separation at the seams — it was never intended as a display box, but as period-correct original packaging, it adds significant collector value despite its condition • Doll has not been tested for functionality beyond visual inspection (sleep eye mechanism, walking mechanism) • No modern reproduction — 100% authentic vintage piece Why This Is a Great Find Vintage Reliable dolls turn up regularly on the secondary market, but the vast majority have long since lost their original boxes and paperwork. A matched set — doll, original box, AND factory catalog insert — is a genuinely uncommon combination for collectors of Canadian toy history, mid-century dolls, or vintage advertising ephemera. Whether you’re a doll collector, a Canadiana enthusiast, or simply drawn to authentic mid-century nostalgia, this piece offers real display and conversation value.
